The Acting Comptroller Ahmadu Bello Shuaib, as a result of a professional and intelligence-based operation, has disclosed a seizure of 975 live cartridges of red star ammunition concealed in five bags of foreign parboiled rice.

DC Shuaib, in a press release e-signed by the Command’s spokesperson, SC HB Oloyede, said the live arms were intercepted along Palace/Ayetoro in Imeko-Afon LGA, Ogun State, adding that the Command was on the trail of the ammunition for about a week.

The Acting Comptroller hinted that his men were determined to crack down on any smugglers as “the consequences of unchecked smuggling of arms and ammunition is severe, ranging from the empowerment of criminal organizations to escalating crisis and compromise of national security.

For these reasons, we will not relent nor compromise waging war against smuggling of unlawful arms and ammunition in building a safe and stable nation.

While he called for useful intel from well-meaning Nigerians, DC Shuaib assured that his Command will provide maximum security cover.
