Ogun I Customs seizes 131 sacks of Cannabis Sativa, 9 trailer load of rice, vows to stick to rule of engagement

Ogun I Area Command Conptroller, Bamidele Makinde fsi, mni, psc+, in his 33 days in office, has disclosed seizures among which were 131 sacks of Cannabis Sativa (Indian Hemp) and nine (9) trailer loads of foreign parboiled rice

Conptroller Bamidele during his maiden press briefing coordinated by the Command’s spokesperson, DSC HB Oloyede, stressed his resolve to continue guiding his men in the observance of the rule of engagement.

The Conptroller commended the patriotism of the Command’s personnel saying “the achievement was due to strategic enforcement measures and effective use of Intelligence put in place by the new administration in the Command.

We appreciates the collaborative efforts of the sister agencies in the fight against smuggling and seek for continuous support.

“We also pledge to operate an open door policy to grant easy access to his office with the aim to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the implementation of the Federal Government fiscal policies.

“Permit me to use this opportunity to appeal to parents and guardians residing in border communities to prevail on their wards and youths to desist from criminal activities such as smuggling, attack on Security operatives and Government assets/infrastructures.

“It is important to note that activities embarked upon by the Command is a patriotic duty in the interest of national security and economic wellbeing of Nigeria. NCS operatives in observance of the rules of engagement will continue to carry out its legitimate duties as prescribed by the law.

Foreign parboiled rice seized

DETAILS: The total revenue generated from this exercise from 9th of February, 2022 till the 21st of March, 2022 is as follows :

❖ Total Revenue Figure: One Million, Nine Hundred and Forty Two Thousand, Three Hundred and Seventy Five Naira, Zero Kobo (₦1,942,375.00).

SEIZURES/ANTI-SMUGGLING ACTIVITIES: The Command was able to record about 142 seizures some of which include:

5,420 Bags of Foreign Parboiled Rice (50 kg each). This is equivalent of nine (9) full trailer load of rice.

133 sacks and 181 wraps (book size) of Cannabis Sativa.

  18 units of vehicles comprising of 13 units means of conveyance and 5 units of foreign but used vehicles (Tokunbo), including 2018 model Range Rover.

❖  13 kegs of Vegetable oil (25 liters each).

  8 bales, 19 small Ghana must go bags and 2 sacks of secondhand clothing.

  25 sacks and 4 bags of used shoes.

  880 cartons of frozen poultry products.

  26,725 liters of PMS in 1,069 kegs of 25 liters equivalent Total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the above items and others include: One Hundred and Forty Three Million, Nine Hundred and Five Thousand, Five Hundred and Eight Naira, Zero Kobo (₦143,905,508.00).
