Local Govt Pensioners laud Abiodun over increase in gratuity, pension

The Chairman, Local Government Pensioners Association of Nigeria, Ogun State branch, Pastor Benedict Ademoye, Monday, thanked Governor Abiodun led administration for the increment of gratuity and pension to ₦1billion quarterly and ₦10,000 monthly respectively.

Pastor Ademoye, while responding to the pronouncement of Governor Abiodun on issues bordering on retirees, at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, said the association heartily appreciated the willingness of the governor to improve on the welfarism of the senior citizens.

“Most especially, on behalf of all retirees in the state, I want to thank the Governor for his directive after our last meeting with him that gratuities of the sick ones among us should be prioritised. And the result has been that, no one among us has died like chicken.

“You would recall that some weeks after the meeting with him in August 2022, he added ₦100million, and today, ₦400million has been added to make it ₦1billion naira every three months, as well as the increment of the monthly pension from ₦5,000 to ₦10,000.

“Hence, we believe in his promise to pay a bulk of ₦10 to ₦15billion as soon as  Federal Government reimburse him of a ₦280billion for Trunk A roads constructed in the state.

“With this his show of humanity, we wouldn’t hesitate to give him our total support for his second term bid in the March 11, 2023 Governorship election”, Local Govt Pensioners stated.
