I need your help, wife of Odunare who jumped into lagoon, pleads

Rufiat Amusa, the wife of Olalekan Odunare, the National Diploma Certificate holder who jumped into a Lagoon at Alaro area of Epe Local Government of Lagos State on Thursday, cried out to Nigerians to come to the aid of the only girl left behind by her husband.

Rufiat, who hails from Oyo state, said since the incident, she has not received any help. She also called on Nigerians to support her to enable her take care of her late husband’s child.

”Since the incident, I have not seen anyone from my husband’s family apart from my family. I have no friends but whatever anyone has to give will go a long way,” she added.

Before he died, he said I shouldn’t allow his daughter to suffer. I plead with all Nigerians to help me”, Rufiat pleaded.

Rufiat told NAN that her husband had been talking about suicide a few days before he eventually jumped into the lagoon but no one took him serious.

The mother of one said those around only attributed his remarks to the influence of hard drugs.

“My husband’s name is Abdulrahman Olamilekan Odunare. We were also shocked to hear that he jumped into the lagoon. He has been speaking about it for some days but he was not monitored properly. If he was, the case would not be as bad as this,” she said.

“No one took him serious. They all attributed what he was saying to the influence of Colorado (hard drugs), so they didn’t even evaluate what he was saying. He doesn’t take Colorado but he used to take Arizona though it’s been long he took Arizona”.

A video of Odunare sitting on the rails of a bridge and wearing a sober look had earlier surfaced on the internet.

In the video clip, a man who was filming him could be heard asking him questions but Odunare did not respond and thereafter plunged himself into the lagoon.

Usman, a brother to Odunare, earlier said the deceased did not open up to anyone whether he was facing any challenges.
