How community leader uplifts 50 underprivileged, commissions 5 lockup shops, borehole

It was an exciting scene to behold when scores of sewing machines, hair-dryers, pepper-grinding machines were given to the less privileged at Orile-Imo, Owode/Obafemi LGA, Ogun State on Saturday, August 9, 2023.

The empowerment which was the third segment of the program of the birthday celebration of a monarch to-be, High Chief Olalekan OLAKUNLE, was in “fulfiment of a covenant” he made with his God.

Presenting the tools to the beneficiaries, the executive chairman of Owode Obafemi, Hon ‘Lanrewaju Adesina  Ogunsola, who earlier, during the first segment of the event, had commissioned a block of 5 lockup shops and a borehole at the market square of the ancient town, commended the generosity of the donor, charging the recipient’s to put it into proper use such that would take them out of abject poverty.

“As a Council, among other projects, we have built lockup shops in five markets, healthcare centres, and boreholes  across Owode Obafemi local government area.

“We are really in need of philanthropists like High Chief OLAKUNLE who take delight in supporting government in its bid to relieve people of  deficiency in life essentials.

“This is not the first project by Chief OLAKUNLE, in fact, recently, I received his letter in which he requested for my permission to construct blocks of classrooms in our primary schools. Such is the Giving Spirit that our Egbon possessed.

I am using this opportunity to thank him for the gesture which I can describe as a tangible CSR”.

Earlier, the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, during the second and third segment respectively had commissioned a newly built 5-Star Laleck Hotel & Suites, as he implored the millionaires-in-waiting to use the machines to better their individual life.

Governor Abiodun who was represented by a former Special Adviser on Political Matters (Remo North), Hon  ‘Biyi Adeleye, applauded the acts of patriotism and kindness displayed by High Chief Olalekan OLAKUNLE.

“Chief OLAKUNLE, the Ogun State Government would sincerely appreciate your social support. Governor Abiodun is happy, in particular, to have philanthropist’s like you who are willing to compliment government’s relentless efforts in this state”, Hon Adeleye commended.

In his remarks, Chief OLAKUNLE who was ‘humbled by the government’s presence for the commissioning of his Laleck Hotel & Suites’ commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for varied developmental projects across the state, promised to continuing doing his best to support his administration.

“I would remain grateful to His Excellency for the honour accorded me in commissioning this edifice. I thank Governor Abiodun for his ingenuity in spreading his developmental projects across the state. I want to put it on record that my people and I will continue to give our utmost support to his administration.

“My decision to making the needy happy has been a kind of dream comes true. Some years ago, I was also poor. Then, I made covenant with God that if He would turn around my life, providing uplift to the poor will become my routine.

“So, marking my birthday annually has been an avenue for me to make the poor happy. It has been an event by which I fulfills my covenant with God”, Chief OLAKUNLE stated.

He expressed appreciation to young people of Orile-Imo and environs, thanked the Vice Chairman, Hon Olusesi, other political appointees in attendance, Council of Baales, Traditional Councils, PCRC members, representatives of the International Brewery, Liberators, associations and clubs, as well as well wishers.
